COURSE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. Describe the stages of the developing person at different periods of the life span from birth to death. Measured by course assignments and activities. 2. Discuss the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that affect the development process of the individual. Measured by course assignments and activities. 3. Identify factors of responsible personal behavior with regard to issues such as sexual activity, substance abuse, marriage and parenting. Measured by embedded test questions, course assignments and activities. 4. Explain the biosocial, cognitive and psychological influences throughout the lifespan as an ongoing set of processes, involving both continuity and change. Measured by course assignments and activities 5. Describe the different developmental perspectives of the major theories of development (i.e. cognitive, learning, humanistic and psychodynamic). GRADING POLICY: Your final course letter grade will be based on an approximate percentage of 1000 total required points as follows: Letter Grades Point Totals Approximate Percentages A 900 - 1000 90%+ B 800 - 899 80-89% C 700 - 799 70-79% D 600 - 699 60-69% F 599 and below 59% and below ALL EXAM, QUIZ,ASSIGNMENT AND PROJECT SCORES WILL BE USED IN CALCULATING YOUR COURSE GRADE. NO COURSE ACTIVITY SCORES OR GRADES WILL BE DROPPED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PRACTICE ACTIVITIES WHICH WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN CALCULATING YOUR COURSE GRADE. |

*Students will answer all exam and quiz questions ONLINE by marking responses on an online exam form in the Blackboard website for this course. *NOTICE: If instructor establishes that student has practiced plagiarism in any assignment, instructor has the right and responsibility to regrade any and all assignments previously submitted by student and graded by instructor. If the instructor suspects plagiarism or any academic dishonesty, the instructor requires additional course activity to verify the student is the actual author of the assignment or course activity. *Instructor does not discuss grades over the phone. If students wish to request grades on specific assignment or to request a grade status during the semester, the student must request this information using their official LSCPA email account. OTHER INSTRUCTOR POLICIES 1. There are many activities in this course which require using the Blackboard website for the course. 2. Students will complete all exams, quizzes assignments and many course activities online and will record their responses on an online test form, which they will access using the Blackboard website for this course. 3. Instructor will use all exam, quiz, assignment and course activity scores to calculate students course grades . Instructor will drop no course activity scores or grades with the exception of practice activities which carry no course credit weight in calculating students final grades. 5. Instructor does not accept late or corrected assignment submissions this semester. 6. Students should type work turned in for credit using correct grammar and spelling, using complete sentences. 7. If students do not follow all instructions provided for each assignment, the assignment will receive zero credit points. 8. This course will require turning in all work using the Blackboard course website 9. Plagiarism, written or oral, will result minimally in failure of the assignment (1st offense) and failure of the course (2nd offense). If the instructor suspects plagiarism or any academic dishonesty, students must provide additional verification that they are the actual author of the assignment or document. 10. All work turned in for credit must include a complete heading, including student's first and last names, course name (PSYC), course number, course section number and date the student completed the assignment or document. 11. Instructor requires that students type all written assignments and save the document using the doc or docx file formats. Students must attach assignment documents to the correct submission page in Blackboard.. 12. Instructor requires regular and punctual attendance and participation in all class activities. 13. The instructor requires that students will display mature behavior in online and in-person class activities. This behavior includes being responsible for actions and treating classmates, instructor and themselves with respect at all times. Failure to do so may result in students' being removed from the classroom or the course. 14. Instructor requires that students type all written assignments. 15. Students should spend a minimum of 3-6 hours per week on this course's assignments. 16. Instructor will not tolerate or accept plagiarism or any form of academic dishonesty in this class. will not be tolerated. Any assignment submitted that contains plagiarism will receive an course-credit of zero points. Instructor will take further action, including requiring verification from a student that the student is the actual author of the assignment or document. 17. Each assignment and project in this class has a due date and due time. Instructor will not be accepting late assignment submissions this semester. 18. Students should consult with instructor for Additional Course Policies. 19. Instructor will not discuss your grades over the phone. If students wish to discuss their grades, they may request this information using their official LSCPA email account. 20. The instructor will resolve non-compliance with items 1-19 and other situations which may arise on a case by case basis. 21. Students may expect written assignments and other course activities to be graded within a two-week period AFTER THE DUE DATE for each assignment or course activity. Additional instructor course policies 22. Instructor officially PROHIBITS consuming food, drink, alcohol, and tobacco products in the classroom meetings for this course. This policy agrees with official college policy. 23. Instructor does not be accept late assignments for point credit this semester. 24. Instructor does not accept corrected documents this semester. 26. The instructor created the psychology core assignment drafts 1,2 and 3 as well as the final version core assignment for students to submit as a series of 3 drafts and a final version so that students may correct any section errors in the drafts the final version, based on feedback given on the earlier drafts. 27. Students should use their LSCPA email account to send email messages and requests to the instructor. 28. Students should submit all written assignments using the following file formats: doc or docx. Instructor will accept no other file formats, including hand written documents or digital images of handwritten documents. 29. Instructor will assign a 1-point deduction if students do not use the doc or docx file format when submitting assignments. 30. Students must attach all written assignment documents to the appropriate and correct submission page. Instructor will assign a 1-point deduction when students do not attach an assignment document to the correct submission page, 31. Instructor requires that students save all written assignment documents using the file format doc or docx. 32. Instructor does not accept any late assignments full credit points this semester. 33. Instructor will not offer makeup opportunities for missed exams and quizzes this semester. 34. Instructor does not accept any corrected assignments for credit points this semester. 35. Credit for any late assignment assignment work will be 1 point through Friday of semester week 14. |

Attendance Policy |
Research has shown a strong positive relationship between attendance, participation and college success. I strongly recommend regular participation in this course, both mental and physical. Active participation will help you succeed in this course. CAUTION: I will not automatically drop your name from the class roll because you do not participate in class activities. MAKEUP WORK: Students who do not complete course work because of official college activities may make-up some of those assignment. Student must obtain verification by means of a written message from a college official or sponsor before instructor will accept makeup work. |
